unfortunately both men and women are equal offenders in the lying department. But as it was brought out, some do it out of love and others out of hate. It just depends on how far you take the little white lies...once you start, you can't stop!

I don't know what kind of animals were around with Adam and Eve, but I think even if they had dogs, they could have been food too?? I don't remember any passage in the bible that said Adam killed, skinned and cooked Fido or Boots (a cat) and sat down to dinner with Eve, but then again, I shouldn't say anything about the bible - I didn't really ever read any of it.
I'm sure your basset hound is safe now!

No, perhaps he didn't, but I think I heard that Eve wanted to see him do something with the animals. I think she was into that kinky stuff.
What I meant to say (I didn't phrase that properly) is that nothing would change with the animals, ie. meaning that they would still die even after Adam and Eve had sinned.

I think any article that talks about what food is good for you or not is not to be believed. The people that give those reports are always changing their minds. I remember hearing that milk isn't good for you awhile back, then they changed it and said that everyone should have at least one glass of milk a day. Just like water - 8 glasses a day - apparently not anymore. A recent report I heard (can't remember exactly where, on the tele I think) said that it's no longer necessary to drink that much water a day. As far as meat is concerned, I'm going to continue to eat meat whenever I want to because I notice a difference when I don't eat red meat - like I'm missing out on essential nutrients. ("I want something's flesh")
I wouldn't suggest anyone eat at McDonalds every day (although I used to at times, for all three meals!) but I think a hamburger or a steak every now and again is good for you. Although I am most partial to fish and chicken.
I do think that all foods play some sort of part in a persons diet. I don't think it's necessary to cut out goodies like oreo's completely, or to only eat fruit and veg. Someone else already said this, but I agree, you can have anything in moderation!

I think the thing is that god didn't make animals to live forever originally. Even before Adam and Eve sinned, the animals were meant to be food and so they would have to be able to be killed and or die. So nothing would have changed after they sinned with the animals. At least that's what I think. I've never heard anything that said the animals would live forever? As far as what it's supposed to be like in paradise, I remember it being said by an elder at the bible study that animals will still die, but we won't mourn for their death like we do now...not sure why? I wonder if god is planning to take away all human emotion in paradise? Not that I believe in paradise anyway, and even if I did, I wouldn't be there - too much like the devil

I wouldn't suggest trying to meet women at bars or anything like that. I tried doing that for the short time I was alone after my divorce and it was HORRIBLE. The only guys that were there were extremely immature. The women didn't look to be any better either.
You could maybe try meeting someone at a library or bookstore? I met my husband on JWD and it worked out perfectly. I got to know him via email for awhile, then we started talking on the phone (one note about this, if she lives across the pond, use some sort of cheap rate calling plan, otherwise your phone bill be $1000 before you know it) Anyway, then when I met him in person, it was as if I had known him forever, and he was my best friend. I know others that have met here and it's worked out for them also.
Good luck in the trying the dating scene again. I won't say it's easy, but it's worth it when you find the right one. My brother just got married and he did the online dating thing too.

Clothing and appearance guidelines from the Bible...how do the JWs justify?
by insearchoftruth ini was looking at a listing of some of the clothing/appearance guidelines from the bible and i was wondering how the wts works around the below scriptures.
i know they have sited 1 corinthians 11:14-15 with respect to men and long hair, but the sister who is studying with my wife, and married to the po has very short hair, how is this justified??.
the items from ot scripture, such as the woman wearing garments pertaining to a man and the mixing of woolen and linen were most likely swept under the rug with the lifting of the mosiac law.. "the woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the lord thy god.

I just remember that when I went as a teenager, I used to wear short skirts. Until they started having talks about it, then my sister told my mom that I shouldn't wear short skirts anymore and that the test was if I knealt on the floor the skirt should touch the floor at least. So my mom asked me to do that for a bit, but then she thought it was stupid, so she stopped.

I have great respect for all animals, and I think most animals are very intelligent. I just watched a program on the tele last night about elephants and how they mourn for their dead. Even if one is dying the rest of the herd won't leave it's side till long after it's gone. Gorillas also mourn for their dead. I find animal behaviour fascinating and am always watching programs about animals with my husband.
Although I have respect for them, I still consider SOME of them to be food for us. I couldn't eat an exotic animal, like a zebra or anything. I just think that it's weird. I had been opposed to eating duck at one time, but you'll see me eating a crispy duck pancake every now and again.
I think there is a fine line we need to be aware of when it comes to animals and eating them, because the truth is that there are a lot of animals that are dying out, that are still being hunted for food or whatever, and the way a lot of farm animals are treated is so cruel and not necessary. Again, I've seen a program depicting what it is like for some chickens in the UK that are farmed (I can't remember the term), it was distressing to watch as a chicken couldn't feed or drink because it's legs were broken, yet it was still trying to stand. Another one's neck was completely hanging off to it's side, as if it had been snapped in two. And there was even one chicken that was lying on the ground, motionless, it looked dead, but it wasn't - what a horrible and painful, drawn out death. Dying slowly is no way for even a chicken to die!

i think this is the third try in the last 20 yrs.
this time they are so desperate they are putting out ps spots talking about how much this will save the gov't (as we all know the gov't is always looking for ways to save money) and that, of all things, it is a green thing to do.... most men carry their money in their pockets/wallet.

I am a US citizen, who now lives in England, and it took me all of maybe a day tops to learn what coins are what. If it takes someone a long time to figure out what coin will use to pay for a candy bar, then maybe they shouldn't go anywhere without doing some sort of investigating into the currency first so they aren't holding up the line in the supermarket!
I actuallylike the UK's currency a lot better than the US. The £1 and £2 coins are great and I mostly have those and the 50p or 20p in my bag, so it's not so bad. The other smaller bits go into our coin collection for changing into larger bills later.
If you think you can't walk around with change in your pockets without holding up your pants, then maybe you should start carrying a purse
